Amir Khan told Sky Sports he wants to fight Timothy Bradley in the UK this summer - and is convinced he will beat him.
I'll show I'm the best light-welterweight in the world, vows Amir
Amir Khan is convinced he has the beating of the world's number one light-welterweight Timothy Bradley.
The WBA champion was watching on in the Sky Sports studio as the WBO boss added Devon Alexander's WBC crown to his collection with a controversial technical decision.
Bradley doubles up - fight report
Their unification fight - that never lived up to its billing - was called off in the 10th afer the ringside doctor decreed that a cut opened up over Alexander's right eye in the third, was too bad for him to box on.
Bradley admitted Khan was next on his radar and the boy from Bolton is already clearing his schedule for a showdown this summer.
"I'd like to get the April 16 fight out the way then definitely I'll fight Timothy Bradley, who is the number one in the division," he told
Sky Sports.
"I'm number two and I think that will be a brilliant fight.
"It will be a lot easier to make. Bradley's with Gary Shaw and I think that fight could be made. Also Bradley did say he would love to come to England and fight me - what a great fight that would be for the English fans.
"I want to do it before Ramadan starts (September 10), so I can fight and have the whole of Ramadan off and then fight again at the end of the year.
"It depends on the Bradley-Alexander contract; Alexander did mention he's got a rematch clause, so we'll see what the score is and take it from there."
Bradley is now unbeaten in 28 fights and six of his last seven fights have been for one of the four major world titles.
Six of those opponents have also ended up being cut like Alexander and Khan admits that headbutts would be a concern if the pair do meet this summer.
But, he believes he has the speed and skills to not only stay away from danger, but do some damage to the man called Desert Storm himself.
Gameplan
"He's always in front of you, keeping the pressure on you and you have to be smart," he said.
"You have to hit the angles right, not get too close to him because Bradley is a quick fighter when he's inside. You just have to keep the jab going - at times Alexander was catching him with the jab, it's just he didn't throw a lot of them.
"Bradley likes to stay in there and jump in, lunge him and you have to be careful of his head.
"I am sure when I fight him, I'll be watching his head. If that was me, I'd have taken a little step back as he came in, then (slaps his hands) a little right uppercut - and it would've been good night.
"At the end of the day I've got a lot of respect for him. I think Bradley's a great fighter and a great champion but I think with my skills and if I go with the right gameplan into the fight, it could be a win for us."
