Sky Box Office HD the place to see him face undefeated McCloskey

Amir Khan's world-title defence against Paul McCloskey will be exclusively live on Sky Box Office HD. The WBA light-welterweight king takes on the undefeated European champion at the MEN Arena, Manchester on April 16. It will be Khan's first fight back in Britain in 14 months and sees him return to the same venue where he became a world champion at just 22, out-classing Andriy Kotelnik - live on Sky Box Office - in July 2009. The fight is a voluntary defence of his title following his sensational victory over Marcos Maidana in Las Vegas, which was voted Fight of the Year in the United States by the American Boxing Writers' Association. McCloskey brings an impressive 22-0 (12 KO's) record with him to Manchester and has stopped his last five opponents inside the distance. The 31-year-old southpaw, from Dungiven, Northern Ireland, shot to prominence in June 2009 when he became the European champion after knocking out Daniel Rasilla. He had previously held the British light-welterweight title. Sky boxing commentator Jim Watt said: "Amir's fight against Maidana proved what a talented and exciting young boxer he is. "It was a landmark win for him and under the stewardship of trainer Freddie Roach he has proved himself as a truly world-class fighter. "I can't wait to see how he takes on McCloskey in what I'm sure will be a full MEN Arena. This will be a tough test for Khan and one that he cannot take lightly if he looks to establish himself as the best light-welterweight in the world." McCloskey is ranked number five by the WBA and four with the WBC, and Khan needs to win if he is going to fight WBC and WBO boss Timothy Bradley and prove he is the best in the division. Booking information will be announced closer to the fight and don't forget you can follow the big-fight build-up right here on skysports.com...
