Wladimir needn't have taken Chisora fight, says WBA champ

David Haye is disappointed Wladimir Klitschko felt he needed to squeeze in a warm-up fight with Dereck Chisora. The two sides were close to agreeing terms at the start of the year before Klitschko chose to defend his WBO and IBF titles against Chisora on April 30. A provisional date of July 2 was set aside for Haye, but the Briton never believed the Ukrainian was serious about stepping through the ropes again just nine weeks after the Chisora fight. It means further frustration for Haye, who is determined to unify the heavyweight division before he retires on his 31st birthday on October 13. "I told believe Wladimir needs a warm-up to fight me, I don't feel anyone needs a warm-up," he told Sky Sports News. "Maybe in his heart he's not confident of getting in the ring with me without a warm-up. "He's not doing it for the money, because he's not getting paid that much for it. "Since I first turned professional I said I wanted to retire I'm 30, and I can't say that on October 13. It's come real quick."
