British champion wants to win Lonsdale belt outright
Sam Webb says he will not move on to fight for European honours until he has won the Lonsdale belt for keeps.
The 30-year-old stunned Anthony Small to win the British light-middleweight title last year before defending it against Martin Concepcion.
Two more successful defences will secure him the belt outright and he returns to action against Prince Arron on Friday week.
He has been offered a European title fight against world ranked Lukas Konecny, but at the moment only has eyes for one prize.
"Ever since I was a kid I have had visions of owning a Lonsdale belt and if I beat Arron I will almost be there," he said.
Ranking
"The European title is tempting because winning it would get me a world ranking, but right now the British crown is my world title.
"Once I have that belt for keeps I will move on."
Promoter Frank Maloney is proud of the Chislehurst fighter for keeping his feet on the ground.
"It is fantastic that Sam is a fighter who wants to bring credibility to the British crown," he said.
"The Lonsdale belt is one of the greatest belts in boxing history and the envy of the world, but it could be said that some fighters use it as a stepping stone and nothing more."
The fight takes place at Medway Park Leisure Centre, Gillingham and is live on Sky Sports HD1 from 10pm on Friday, May 13.
