Manchester man says Mitchell gameplan would backfire

John Murray says Kevin Mitchell doesn't have the power to stand and trade with him when they lock horns in London on July 9. The pair clash in a mouthwatering domestic match-up (live on Sky Sports 1HD) and Mitchell says he expects the fight to play out like that epic three-round war between Marvin Hagler and Thomas Hearns way back in 1985. But Manchester ace Murray scoffed at that claim, and believes Mitchell could be playing mind games. "Mitchell is welcome to try and blast me out, but believe me he will get knocked out even quicker if he tries that," he said. "He doesn't carry enough power in his punches to halt me when I'm coming forward and remember I'll be throwing at least four or five punches in return for every one of his. "His chin definitely won't be able to stand up to what I'm going to be landing on it throughout the fight. I'll give it to him that he's fast with his hands and on his feet, but his punch is nothing to worry about and I'll be grinding him down round after round with combination punching until I get to him, and I will get him."

Key assets

"I'll be working my key assets which are the body shots and bringing his hands down so I'll work on his head." Murray has waited a long time to face Mitchell inside the ropes, and says whatever gameplan the Londoner employs he'll be ready. "It will be a tough, hard and exciting fight, and I'm looking forward to finally seeing what Mitchell has to offer. The fight has been a long time coming and I've been building myself up for the day I meet Mitchell. "Personally I think he is trying a bit of mind games saying that he is going to have a war with me, I wouldn't be surprised if he tried to box me like he against Breidis Prescott, but I've worked on plenty of game plans with my trainer Joe Gallagher for whatever Mitchell brings on the night."
