'El Terrible' stripped of title after coming in well over limit

Erik Morales has been stripped of the WBC light-welterweight title ahead of Saturday's night's fight against Danny Garcia after failing to make the weight. The future Hall of Famer tipped the scales at 142lbs, 2lb over the limit, meaning the belt is only on the line for the unbeaten Garcia. The four-weight world champion was due to defend his strap for the first time in Houston, after crowning his comeback against Pablo Cesar Cano in September, following a two-and-a-half-year hiatus. 'El Terrible', who made his name in epic trilogies with Marco Antonio Barrera and Manny Pacquiao, will not now go home with the title even if he beats the 11-years younger Garcia. Morales was also fined $50,000 for failing to hit 140lbs - his opponent coming in just inside at 139.5.
