Vitali Klitschko will put his WBC heavyweight title on the line for potentially the last time against Germany's Manuel Charr in September.
Vitali to take on Germany's unbeaten Charr in September
Vitali Klitschko will put his WBC heavyweight title on the line against Germany's Manuel Charr in Moscow on September 8.
The bout, which will take place at the SC Olimpiyski sports arena, could potentially be Klitschko's last with the 40-year-old Ukrainian preparing to stand in his country's elections on October 28.
Klitschko has hinted that he may continue his career in the ring, but recently stated: "I will make my decision after the election."
In the meantime, he is refusing to take the challenge of Charr lightly, declaring: "Charr is young, hungry and undefeated. He is afraid of nobody, always marching forward.
Extremely motivated
"I know that he will be extremely motivated against me and that is why I will definitely not make the mistake to underestimate him. I will give my answer to all his trash talking inside the ring."
Little-known Charr has a perfect professional record of 21 wins from 21 fights with 11 of those coming inside the distance.
However, the Beirut-born 27-year-old is ranked only seventh on the WBC's heavyweight contender list and the bout with Klitschko will prove a big step up in class.
Charr remains confident though and insists he is capable of springing a huge surprise against the veteran Ukrainian.
"Vitali will see in my eyes that he cannot win the fight," said the German. "Many think I will come to lose but I am coming to win. I will shock Vitali and the boxing world."
