Danny Garcia will defend his WBC and WBA light-welterweight titles against Erik Morales in New York on October 20. Garcia defeated former WBC champion Morales earlier this year and the Mexican veteran has activated a rematch clause. The fight will headline the first night of boxing at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, with Paul Malignaggi set to defend his WBA welterweight title on the undercard. Mexican Pablo Cano, who holds the 'regular' WBA title at light-welter, has been approached to step up and take on Malignaggi although talks are thought to be ongoing. Garcia's date with Morales means a rematch with Amir Khan before year's end is highly unlikely. The Briton had been hoping to have another crack at Garcia in December following his devastating stoppage loss earlier this month, but the American is set for a well-earned break after three big fights in 2012.
