Froch set to announce opponent for first title defence

World champ Carl Froch will announce his next opponent live on Sky Sports News at 12.30pm on Monday. The three time world champion will defend his IBF World super middleweight title belt for the first time in his hometown Nottingham in November. Froch has previously indicated the chance to gain revenge over Mikkel Kessler remains his overriding priority, with the Nottingham fighter losing on points the last time he and Kessler met in the ring in April 2010. The November defence will be the Cobra's first outing since winning the title in stunning fashion with a fifth round KO of Lucian Bute at the Capital FM Arena in front of a fanatical hometown support on May 26. Should he be successful in the defence, the 35-year-old will then travel to Montreal next spring to face Bute in a rematch. "The Bute fight night will go down in history as one of the greatest nights in British boxing history," said Froch's promoter Eddie Hearn. "Carl is chomping at the bit to get back into the ring and feel the roar of the Nottingham fans that he loves so much."
