Arum confirms bitter rivals will go toe-to-toe for a fourth time

Filipino star Manny Pacquiao will fight Mexican rival Juan Manuel Marquez for a fourth time on December 8. Promoter Bob Arum has now confirmed that the long-running series of bouts will continue with a clash at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. In their three fights so far Pacquiao has claimed two points wins while one bout was a draw, although all three decisions have been somewhat controversial. After the judges could not separate them in the first fight in 2004, Pacquiao took the win by a single point on a single scorecard four years later in their second bout. The Filipino secured a majority decision victory in the third contest, but many observers felt the verdict should have gone the other way. Timothy Bradley and Miguel Cotto were also seen as possible opponents for Pacquiao but after those negotiations did not bear fruit, Marquez was left as the most likely opponent.
