England's Lisa Whiteside progressed to the quarter-finals at the Women's World Boxing Championships with a win over Thailand's Sopida Satumrum in the 49-51kg division in Jeju City, South Korea on Wednesday.
The 29-year-old, from Preston, will now take on Canadian Mandy Bujold.
Whiteside, a world bronze medallist at 55-57kg two years ago, is hoping to seize her chance in the absence of Olympic champion Nicola Adams, who is missing the competition due to injury.
In the 65-69kg class as Wales' Lauren Price was beaten by Atheyna Bylon of Panama.
Ireland's Claire Grace, also fighting at 69kg, was forced to withdraw from her last-16 bout against Turkey's Guluzar Kara due to a cut over her left eye sustained in her win over Cristina Stanca in the previous round.
