Boxing: Light middleweight Brian Rose to face Carson Jones in the New Year
Tuesday 25 November 2014 13:35, UK
Brian Rose will face Carson Jones for the WBC international light middleweight title at the MEN Arena in Manchester on Friday January 23, live on Sky Sports.
Rose’s bid to win the WBO title ended in failure when he was stopped in seven rounds by Demetrius Andrade in New York in June.
However, the 29-year-old will aim to get back in the world title mix when he tackles the experienced American.
Jones, 28, (36-10-3), is best remembered in Britain for giving Kell Brook the fight of his life in July 2012 and returning for a rematch last summer.
“I'm excited to be back in the ring again in Manchester on January 23 fighting for another title,” said Rose (26-2-1)
“I enjoyed watching Carson taking on Kell and he always comes to fight - I think our styles make for a great match up. The atmosphere in the Arena is going to be electric that night and I'm looking forward to getting the win and moving up the world rankings.”
The Blackpool star faces Oklahoma’s Jones on the undercard of Anthony Crolla’s WBA world lightweight title.
