Anthony Joshua is set to feature on Sky Sports' May 9 Birmingham bill as he tunes up for Kevin Johnson later next month.
The Olympic champion beat Jason Gavern inside three rounds in Newcastle last weekend to claim an 11th win of his short professional career.
Britain's great heavyweight hope afterwards told Sky Sports he had struggled for momentum on his return from an absence of more than four months.
And with his toughest test to date looming in the shape of former world title contender Johnson, live on Sky Sports Box Office on May 30, the likelihood is Joshua will be squeezed in for one final warm-up fight at the Barclaycard Arena.
Joshua's inclusion would bolster a line-up now missing local boy Frankie Gavin, whose fight against Chris van Heerden is off after he landed a shot at IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook.
“It’s a huge opportunity for Frankie and it means he cannot fight on May 9,” promoter Eddie Hearn said. “It is likely that Anthony will now replace him and we will make a full announcement on Monday regarding the card."
Watch Matthew Macklin, Sam Eggington and the Yafai brothers live on Sky Sports' Birmingham bill on May 9.
