Nigel Benn believes Carl Froch should fight James DeGale

Nigel Benn believes Carl Froch should fight James DeGale in order to back up his claims that he is one of the best super middleweights Britain has produced.

Benn now lives in Australia but the former two-weight world champion flew to the UK as a special 50th birthday present for friend and former opponent Michael Watson.

The ‘Dark Destroyer’ still keeps track of the super-middleweight division and is unimpressed by Froch’s claims of greatness.

Froch, a four-time super-middleweight champion, has previously said his career “eclipses” the achievements of Benn and Joe Calzaghe.

Benn thrilled fight fans in the 80s and 90s, claiming 35 of his 42 wins by knockout, while former two-weight champion Calzaghe retired unbeaten in 46 fights and is the longest-reigning super-middleweight champion in history.
