Miguel Cotto v Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez likely to be in November

WBC world middleweight champion Miguel Cotto is likely to fight Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez in November, according to his camp.
Cotto (40-4-0-KO33) stopped former world champion Daniel Geale in four rounds on June 6 to set up a fight with 'Canelo', who was equally impressive in halting James Kirkland in three in May.
Mexico's Alvarez has enjoyed an impressive career having turned professional at the age of just 15 - his only career defeat via majority decision at the hands of Floyd Mayweather Jr at light-middleweight in September 2013.
With fans demanding a 'super-fight' between Cotto and Alvarez (45-1-1-KO33), Cotto's advisor has confirmed talks are well underway and the camps are considering a variety of venues.
"There is a lot of movement in every way,” said Gabriel Peñagarícano to ESPN Desportes.
"Where will the fight be? It’s something that we have not determined. On November 21, it is a possibility. But neither is entirely definite.
"The date will be linked to the place. As I said before New York and Las Vegas are viable. This is a big business. We should not dismiss Dallas. We have to see what they have. The announcement could be in July.”
Alvarez, 24, would be moving up a division to challenge 34-year-old Cotto for his title, but whoever ends up in possession of the belt may have to face mandatory challenger Gennady Golovkin if they want to keep it.
Providing it's Cotto, Roc Nation Sports COO David Iskowitch appears confident that Cotto will not give up his belt to avoid the Kazakh.
Iskowitch told Fightnews.com: "We’re going to do what we can to make sure that he gets to keep that title and if a Canelo fight is made, which is everybody’s goal, we would like that fight to be for the title."
