Danny Williams says he will definitely retire after his British heavyweight title fight with Derek Chisora.
This is it for Williams
British heavyweight champion Danny Williams insists his title defence on May 15th against Derek Chisora will definitely be the last time he sets foot in a professional ring. The Brixton Bomber's fourteen year career will end regardless if he wins or loses at Upton Park.
"I'm 100% finished, I'm going to have this fight and then that's it for me," Williams told

It's not the first time the heavyweight has toyed with retirement and after his painful world title defeat to Vitali Klitschko, many including his promoter Frank Warren called for him to stop fighting. Williams carried on and claimed British and Commonwealth titles but this time he says he has nothing left.
"It's been in the back of my head for quite a bit", continued Williams. "After I lost to Carl Baker I said to myself the next one will be my last one and I want to stay true to my word."
The fight against Klitschko was the nearest Williams got to his boyhood dream of becoming a world champion but he says he would have got another opportunity if he hadn't been struggling with his training ever since. The likeable Londoner has revealed he has been battling with illness for much of the latter stages of his career and has been unable to prepare himself properly for fights.
"After the Klitschko fight I had an illness which I've struggled to get rid of. It just seems to be coming back and back. That was part of the reason I stopped training with Jim McDonnell, I thought he was training me too hard. My body used to be very bad for two or three days afterwards, but I went to see a doctor and he told me what was wrong."
If Williams' preparation for previous fights has been chaotic not much has changed ahead of his meeting with Chisora. Williams admits he is training himself and is not sure who will work his corner on fight night. But the 41 fight veteran says he is confident of bowing out in style.
"I want to go out on a great fight and I think this could be it," said Williams. "Derek Chisora is a come forward fighter. It should be a better one for the public as I can just get stuck in."
There is no love lost between Williams and his opponent with the two fighters based less than a few miles apart in the capital. Chisora claims to be best of a new crop of British fighters including Tyson Fury and Sam Sexton but the current domestic champion is not convinced.
"He won the fight over Sam Sexton but I don't believe he is a better fighter than him. Chisora is strong, aggressive and does have good fitness. We will see if he has the full package on the night."
