Fight night flutters

Sky Bet's Jamie Casey previews the best odds ahead of this weekend's biggest fights.

Dereck Chisora is odds-on to successfully defend his European heavyweight title against Czech challenger Ondrej Pala in London's Copper Box Arena on Saturday night. The Londoner has rejuvenated his career having come back from three successive defeats to Robert Helenius, Vitali Klitschko and David Haye with three stoppage wins to his name in 2013. He's 1-12 with Sky Bet to make it four wins in one year against Pala, who has stepped in at late notice following injuries to Chisora's original opponent Arnold Gjergja and his subsequent replacement Matteo Mudugno. Although Chisora will have been preparing for a different style, the heavyweight shouldn't have too much trouble sussing out his new opponent, though it may take a few rounds for him to pinpoint Pala's weaknesses. On that basis, Chisora to win inside three rounds at 7/2 may be a tad ambitious, but he should start to dish out some real punishment thereafter and it's 9/4 that he finishes the job in rounds 4-6. If not, Chisora's ruthless body-shots will surely wear the Czech down after the mid-way point as Pala's record of 22 knock-outs should not be looked into too much, judging by the calibre of his victims. Pala is more accustomed to eight-round fights while Chisora is a seasoned distance boxer, who should make his experience count. 'Del Boy' to win in rounds 7-12 at 7/4 is the standout bet, while there's only likely to be one winner if it goes to the scorecards.

Stevenson v Bellew

The odds are against Liverpool's Tony Bellew as he gets the second world title shot of his career against fearsome favourite Adonis Stevenson (1/5) in Canada, live on Sky Sports 2 HD. Power-puncher Stevenson has been one of the fighters of the year with three brutal stoppages but he showed in his last fight with Tavoris Cloud that he can box as well as bang. His WBC light heavyweight title is on the line though Bellew (4/1) is really up against it, with home favourite Stevenson odds-on (1/2) to stop him inside the scheduled 12 rounds. Possessing a ferocious left, the Canadian wiped out Chad Dawson in just over a minute in June to claim the belt, before forcing Cloud to retire on his stool in his first defence. Perhaps brave Bellew's best chance of a victory is to out-fox his opponent towards a points decision, although that's only a 17/2 chance given Bellew will be the away fighter in front of the Quebec crowd. He'll look to evade Stevenson's dangerous left hook and work off his jab, but such is the Canadian's power he's just 14/1 to win inside the opening 60 seconds, a special normally priced up in the 80/1 range. However, 'Bomber' Bellew has proved in the past that he can take a shot and has never been stopped, with his only defeat coming via the scorecards in his previous world title chance against Nathan Cleverly. Indeed, six of his last nine fights have gone the distance while Stevenson has never completed 12 rounds in his 23-fight career - largely due to a knock-out record of 19 - but Bellew may gain an upper hand if he can take the fight beyond the 10th round, an 11/10 chance.
