Brook v Khan: Bookmakers can't separate Kell from Amir amid fight talk

Online bookmaker Sky Bet can’t split welterweight duo Kell Brook and Amir Khan ahead of a potential bout in 2015.

Brook pinched the IBF welterweight title from Shawn Porter on Saturday night and the Sheffield fighter’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, has already revealed plans to pit his champion with Khan in all-British showdown.

Former WBO light-welterweight champion Khan has often dismissed Brook’s chances of getting in the ring with him, but, now Brook has a world title, the prospect of touching gloves appears much more appealing for Khan.

And it’s a fight that even the bookmakers are reluctant to call, with Sky Bet offering 10/11 apiece for a win for either fighter, while a draw is available at 20/1.

Sky Bet’s Dale Tempest said: “It seems there’s no stopping British boxing right now. Not only have we already had a second fight between Carl Froch and George Groves this year, but we could now have yet another pair of British fighters in a world title fight in 2015.

“Then you’ve got the rematch between Nathan Cleverly and Tony Bellew brewing nicely too, and this is all great for the bookmakers too, because there’s nothing better than a huge event to capture our punters’ imagination.

“We’re keeping our cards close to our chest for now, though. We can’t side with either Brook or Khan, so it’s over to the public to dictate the betting odds.”
