I'll be way too hot to handle, promises Hayemaker

David Haye is ready to turn the heat on and show the world's heavyweights he is the real deal. The WBA champion defends his title for the first time against John Ruiz, live on Sky Box Office this evening. And while the country suffers an Easter chill, the Hayemaker is promising to warm a nation by blasting the American out and proving that he belongs at the top of the boxing tree. "I want to make a big statement in this fight by showing how a heavyweight champion deals with John Ruiz," he said. "I'll throw everything but the kitchen sink at him. It will be all guns blazing and I'm expecting to sizzle." Haye admits that his aim is to take one of the Klitschko brothers, Vitali or Wladimir, in a unification fight next and has even opened discussions to box in the Gulf. But he says is not looking past the experienced Ruiz and has promised a sell-out MEN Arena and those watching on Sky Box Office, he will is fully focussed on the job in hand. "After this the plan is the Klitschko brothers," he said. But nothing matters if this doesn't go the way we want it to," he said. "I've got to beat Ruiz first. If I do then there are some superfights out there for me. I believe I'm a born winner and all I do is aspire to win. That's all I think about in anything I do in life." The Lord of the Ring show begins at 9pm on Sky Box Office and Sky Box Office HD and features two live title fights before Haye takes centre stage. First up, The Hayemaker prodigy George Groves challenges Commonwealth super-middleweight champion Charles Adamu in the chief support. Groves, a successful amateur, will be boxing as a pro for only the ninth time against a tough champion who has been the distance with WBC world champion Carl Froch. But the Londoner, who is locked in a bitter rivalry with fellow amateur star James DeGale, says winning the belt will open up doors and mean he is no longer avoided by more experienced rivals. Colin Lynes is out to shatter Ajose Olusegun's world title dream when he challenges the Nigerian for his Commonwealth title. Olusegun is within touching distance of a fight against one of the top light-welterweights after extending his unbeaten record to 27 fights. But Lynes is capable of ruining his plans as he has taken a number of notable scalps. Young Mutley, Barry Morrison and David Barnes have all been beaten by the former European champion, who has gone the distance with world champions such as Junior Witter, Gavin Rees and Souleymane M'Biaye. Join Dave Clark, Glenn McCrory and Johnny Nelson at the MEN Arena from 9pm, where the legendary duo of Ian Darke and Jim Watt will be on hand to talk you through what promises to be a memorable homecoming for Haye.
