Carl Dilks is more than happy to be the underdog when he takes on James DeGale.
The 26-year-old challenges the Olympic gold medallist for, live on Sky Box Office HD, on September 18, in what is now a British super-middleweight title eliminator.
All eyes will be on DeGale at the LG Arena, Birmingham, and Liverpuddlian Dilks is more than happy to slip under the radar.
"I'm a really big underdog, but I like being the underdog, the man on the outside," he told
Sky Sports.
"I do think he's good. I've got a lot of respect for James DeGale, he's a very good boxer, very neat, very tidy and it looks like he can punch a bit as well.
"But I am going to be his first live opponent - someone who is going to hit him back."
Dilks is best-known for his part in the light-heavyweight Prizefighter tournament last February, where he lost in the semi-final to Darren Stubbs - the second loss of his 16-fight pro career.
He also boxed Charles Adamu for the Commonwealth Super-Middleweight title - now the property of DeGale's bitter rival George Groves - in December, but came out on the wrong side of a narrow, split decision.
