Usman Ahmed has been added to the line-up for the Super-Flyweights line-up in Liverpool, as a replacement for Ashley Sexton.
Internet smash takes the place of Flash Ash in Liverpool
Usman Ahmed has been added to the Prizefighter Super-Flyweights line-up - in place of the man who floored him in one of the knockouts of last year.
Ahmed was sensationally floored by Ashley Sexton in January 2010, seconds after a ring walk to remember, in what has since become an internet smash.
One version of the clip has been viewed more than 5,000,000 times on YouTube and although the knockout ruined Ahmed's chances of another title shot following a points loss to then-British and Commonwealth champion Chris Edwards back in 2009, he has been given the chance to salvage his career - and pocket £32,000.
Sexton was the original star name on the bill for the October 12th slugfest at Liverpool's Olympia, but has since withdrawn.
And promoter Eddie Hearn wasted little time bringing in Ahmed, who he believes can follow the well-trodden route provided by Prizefiighter success and earn himself another crack at the big time.
"Usman has had a rough ride with the Sexton knockout, but it's certainly raised his profile which is important in such a tight division," he said.
"In Prizefighter he has the chance to make the headlines for the right reasons and with his showmanship and self-confidence, a win in Liverpool could earn Usman another title shot and a lot of fans."
Ahmed joins British champion Lee Haskins, English Bantamweight champion Craig Lyon, Liverpool's Mike Robinson, Merseyside's third representative unbeaten 23 year-old Ryan Farrag, and another unbeaten fighter in Northampton's Nathan Reeve in the Prizefighter line-up.
The boxers taking the final two spots in the eight-man, £32,000 tournament will be announced soon.
Tickets for the show at Liverpool's Olympia on Wednesday, October 12th are on sale now from Matchroom Sport on 01277 359900, priced £30 unreserved, £50 ringside, £100 VIP.
