Pole comes in as Bellew can't beat the scales

Nathan Cleverly will defend his world title against Aleksy Kuziemski - and not Tony Bellew. The second late change to Saturday night's This Is It bill came after Bellew, who was only drafted in on Thursday morning, could not satisfy the British Board of Boxing Control's weight requirements. Bellew was said to be at least 6lbs over the 12st 7lbs requirement and failed a check weigh-in at 6.30pm. The Board deemed it unsafe for him to lose that amount before the official fight weigh-in at 2.00pm on Friday. It left Cleverly with the option of fighting him at catchweight, or making the first defence of his WBO crown against Kuziemski. "I think I've been through everything in the last 48 hours, the main thing for me is that I'm still fighting and that all my hard work has not gone to waste," he said. "It's been a mad time, but I've been through this before and I'm professional enough to deal with it. Let's face it, any problems after this fight will be nothing in comparison. "I've got to get my head round to focusing on Kuziemski now, he is the man in front of me on Saturday night so I've got to forget about Bellew and Braehmer altogether. "He's got a good record, he's highly-ranked and he's been in with some good guys so he won't be a pushover." The German-based Pole is ranked 11th by the WBO - three ahead of Bellew - and brings a 23-2 record to London, with five of them coming by knockout. The biggest name on his record is, ironically, Braehmer, who he took 11 rounds before losing his WBO interim title challenge in August 2009. Kuziemski, 34, was always on stand-by and has passed the Board's pre-fight medical and weight checks. He is due to land in the UK from Poland and 9pm on Thursday evening.
