Chelsea fan George Groves says the man in his corner, Adam Booth, is boxing's equivalent of Jose Mourinho.
Pt IV - Booth is the ace up my sleeve
Hello Peeps! Apologies for my lack of blogs of late. Training this week has been all together brutal to say the least.
I had my last few sparring session that went on till the earlier hours some nights. Then a few more track and weight sessions which are soon becoming the things that consume mostof my days.
Although I have had a little time to fit in some media activities as well.
Most notable was being invited onto ITV's London Tonight with Ben Scotchbrook and of course, my beloved James DeFail.
I have to say before I got there I didn't expect Ben or any of his team to know too much about boxing but to my surprise he did.
At the time I played down his observant, insightful comment to save my boss from blushing but I am truly pleased that even the masses are noticing the ace up my sleeve, as Ben so wisely put it, in Adam Booth.
In Adam Booth I have a man I trust with my life. He is as sharp as they come, leaves no stone unturned. Has not only been involved in fights at the highest level but knows this business inside out.
All though he's not 'fighting stock' as some people may say, he has been involved in boxing his entire life. He is the Jose Mourinho of the boxing world.
He doesn't have an ego and he isn't holding onto an unfulfilled career like a lot of ex-fighters-turned-trainers do now days.
Even now that I am at championship level we haven't settled on me just 'being' the fighter I am. I learn something new every time I walk through the door at the Hayemaker gym. We plan to keep it this way.
So it is a week to go until the big fight. The weigh-in is now open to the public and will be held at the O2 Indigo (O2 Arena) Friday 20th at 1pm. I personally invite you all to attend. Soak up some of the atmosphere a day before.
A massive thank you to everyone who has send me messages so far and especially those of you who have bought your official St George Groves t-shirts. You guys will obviously be the smartest dressed there!
Anyone who doesn't have a t-shirt and would like one you can get them as well as find out all the latest news on my website at www.georgegroves.com.
I hope you're all as excited as I am. I can honestly say... I can't wait for this fight. Wild horses couldn't drag me away! Hasta la proxima!
