Jermain Taylor says he will deliver the goods and put on a show when he defends his middleweight crown against Kelly Pavlik.
Champion promises fireworks in Pavlik showdown
Jermain Taylor has promised to put on a show against Kelly Pavlik.
The middleweight king says he will silence his growing band of critics when he puts his WBC and WBO belts on the line on September 29.
Taylor, undefeated in in 28 fights, has failed to impress in his last three outings against Cory Spinks, Kassim Ouma and the controversial draw with Winky Wright.
It has been more than two-and-a-half years since he scored a KO, but the man who calls himself Bad Intentions, is at least living up to his nickname in the run-up to the Pavlik fight.
"From a style standpoint, my last couple of fights were wrong for me, but they were fighters who stepped up to the plate," Taylor said.
"Kelly Pavlik is a fighter , just like me. He comes to fight, no running, no holding. It's about time. People are going to be surprised by what they see on September 29th.
"I'm expecting a lot of fireworks in the ring with Kelly Pavlik. This is my kind of fight."
Pavlik shot to prominence with his win over Edison Miranda in May and is now considered the main threat to Taylor's dominance at 160lbs.
Slug
He has not tasted defeat in 31 fights and with 28 of those wins coming early, Bad Intentions believes the challenger's explosive style will bring the best out of him.
"I hope he chooses to fight me that way, but whatever he does, I know I'm going to win," Taylor said.
"Slug, box. It don't make no difference. The outcome will be the same. Miranda didn't have all the talent people thought he had. I knew he was just all mouth.
"I know Pavlik is strong, but I know I am stronger than him."
