WBA champion wants all-Australian showdown

WBA super-middleweight champion Anthony Mundine has targeted a new year rematch with fellow Australian Danny Green. Mundine returned to the ring on Monday night in Sydney after six months on the sidelines with a fourth-round stoppage of Argentina's Jose Alberto Clavero. The 32-year-old's career had been in jeopardy following bicep and eye injuries, and although admitting to being nervous about making his comeback, Mundine showed no ill-effects. And having cut Clavero in the third round, before finishing the fight with a looping overhead right in the fourth, Mundine immediately set his sights on a rematch with Green. Mundine, who beat Green on points in 2006, said: "If the Green Machine wants to bring it on, he's going to get his arse whipped. "Come and see me, I will knock you out in your home town, boy. "This was probably my most nervous fight since I started boxing. People don't know what I have been through. "I was a bit anxious. It's been a long time out of the ring. I have come off a horrific eye injury. I was a bit rusty but it was kind of expected." Green is due to fight Stipe Drews for the WBA light-heavyweight title in Perth on Sunday - however he could be tempted to return to the 12st division in the new year to try and avenge his previous defeat to Mundine.
