Khan v Alexander: Glenn McCrory would rather watch Amir Khan than Floyd Mayweather

Bolton boy has the entertainment factor that America loves

We might not see enough of Amir Khan back home in Britain but he is now a Vegas fighter, says Glenn McCrory, who would rather watch him than a certain other Las Vegas star...

Amir Khan is a Vegas fighter, simple as that.

That is where he does his business these days, yet he is still one of the best British fighters out there.

Yes, we have seen him lose fights before, but this lad is at the very, very highest level and a Las Vegas regular.

How many kids out there would get the chance to be put on the bill out in Vegas? Never mind top of the bill at the MGM Grand.

He takes chances, he takes risks, he gets put down, he gets beaten but always dares to have a fight. Mayweather is of course the pound-for-pound best, but personally he never gives me the excitement or entertainment that Sugar Ray Leonard did, that Marvin Hagler did, like Tommy Heads did, back in the day. But Amir Khan does.

It is pretty much unheard of and very rare indeed, even for American fighters. Ricky Hatton did it and that had a lot to do with the number of Brits that went out to see him but literally, Amir appeals to the Americans.

Maybe Floyd Mayweather or Manny Pacquiao might be slightly ahead of them and can fight where they want, but with Amir they know it is going to be worth watching.

And dare I say it, the lad from Bolton is way more entertaining than Mr Mayweather and we, Vegas and America know he will put on a show.

Exciting

Some people seem to have a problem with Amir but I love the way he fights. Yes, we know he could get sparked at any given moment but that is because he takes risks and he goes for the big wins himself.

If he went into any fight just looking to win it, he could do that - but it wouldn't be exciting and it wouldn't be a fight, and I would rather see a fighter willing to do that.

I want to tune in to see fights that will have us on the edge of our seats, that will get people interested in boxing, and that is exactly what Amir Khan does.

If I'm being honest - and a boxing fan - we have had two recent fights where the main events have been mediocre at best. Both Cleverly-Bellew and Fury-Chisora weren't great and were let-downs, but you can guarantee Amir Khan won't let you down.

Watch Amir Khan v Devon Alexander, live on Sky Sports 1 HD, from 2.00am on Sunday morning.
