JD NTXGEN: Carl Froch believes Dave Coldwell made the right decision to pull out Jordan Gill

"We can't really judge him on the fact that he's ill, he's poorly, so we'll take him on his word on that. But he's young enough, if he gets a rematch, he can right that wrong."

Dave Coldwell made the right decision to pull Jordan Gill out of his fight with Enrique Tinoco, says Carl Froch.

Gill lost his undefeated record along with his WBA international featherweight title after he was dropped three times and retired after eight rounds on Friday night.

The Cambridgeshire fighter revealed after suffering his first defeat in 24 contests that he decided to fight in Nottingham despite being ill with suspected food poisoning.

Gill suffered his first professional loss after being floored three times by Enrique Tinoco in Nottingham

"Jordan Gill could have outboxed him, looked slick and looked good. I can see why Dave Coldwell took the fight," Froch told Sky Sports.

"Unfortunately, he's not well. He's come out and said he's not well and that's taken a lot of energy from him and taken away his performance. He's hopefully going to have a chance to right that wrong, he's only 24 years old.

Gill revealed he had suffered food poisoning all day and regretted his decision to go ahead and fight Tinoco

"He's looked good up until this point and I'm sure he will come again. That's quite a bad loss against a tough guy, he took a lot of heavy shots. He got put down a couple of times to the body early on. He got clipped on the chin.

"In round three, there's a body shot and he took that well and later there's another body shot from a different angle. He carried on got back into and got his rhythm going.
