Klitschko has insisted that he wants a rematch after losing his world heavyweight championship

Wladimir Klitschko has insisted that he wants a rematch after losing his world heavyweight championship to Tyson Fury.

The Ukrainian veteran was upset in Dusseldorf on Saturday night as Fury won his WBA Super, WBO and IBF titles with a unanimous decision victory - ending his 11-year and 22-fight undefeated streak.

Klitschko confirmed after the fight that a rematch clause existed, and he planned on exercising his right to a second bout.

"There will be a rematch," he said. "It is still early and I have to process things but there will definitely be a rematch.

"I was well prepared for this fight but he was quick for his height."

What effect will Fury's shock victory have

On paper, Klitschko had a three-inch height disadvantage and a four-inch reach disadvantage and admitted that those factors made things difficult.

The 39-year-old never troubled Fury with his powerful right hand but gave the challenger credit for using his physical gifts to his advantage.

"I never believed he would do it but he did," Kitschko said. "I was lacking speed and he was quick. I just could not find the right distance. His reach bothered me. I tried it but it just did not happen."

Tyson Fury paid tribute to former champion Wladimir Klitschko but said God gave him victory on the night

"Wladimir deserves a rematch," his brother Vitali, also a former heavyweight champion, said.

"It is up to him to decide what he wants to do. He has to analyse things. He will come back stronger after this defeat. He always does."
