Joshua: George Groves believes whoever loses when he meets Martin Murray might retire

George Groves

George Groves admits whoever loses when he meets Martin Murray might as well retire - but is convinced it will not be him.

The Hammersmith super-middleweight takes on fellow world title challenger Murray in what many are tipping as the fight of the night at the O2 on June 25, live on Sky Sports Box Office.

The WBA eliminator will put the winner right back into the championship mix but with Groves (23-3-KO18) losing three world title attempts and Murray (33-3-1-KO16) four - including three at middleweight - their clash is being considered the last-chance saloon for both fighters.

Carl Froch says the fight between Martin Murray and George Groves will tell us so much about both men

"The truth is, you have to say: 'Where does the guy who loses go from here?'," he told Sky Sports News HQ.

"Every loss as a pro is a difficult rebuilding job, you go back into that rebuilding stage and I am certainly not prepared to do it again and I am certainly not prepared to lose to Martin Murray.

Gloves Are Off: Groves v Murray

"If we both go out and perform the best we can, I think I am better than him so it is down to me not to let myself down and beat him.

"It won't be an easy fight but it's a fight I am supremely confident of winning and I know I will go out and do the job."
