Joshua vs Breazeale: Ronnie Davies trained Chris Eubank and now trains Chris Eubank Jr
Friday 24 June 2016 10:44, UK
Ronnie Davies compares and contrasts Chris Eubank with his fast-rising son, Chris Eubank Jr, having trained both fighters.
Davies turns 70 in May and has enjoyed a long career in boxing; winning a Southern Area lightweight title in 1967 before hanging up his gloves in 1970.
Having turned to training, he teamed up with fellow Brighton man Eubank and oversaw his dramatic rise to the top of the sport, crowned by seizing the WBO world middleweight crown from Nigel Benn via a ninth-round stoppage in 1990.
Eubank went on to make a trio of defences before stepping up to add the super-middleweight title to his collection - a belt he defended 13 times.
These days, Davies helps guide the career of British champion Eubank Jr, who makes the first defence of his title on Saturday night on the undercard of Anthony Joshua v Dominic Breazeale - live on Sky Sports Box Office.
With controversy seeming to follow the Eubanks wherever they go, Davies is often seen as a quiet and calming influence around their camp but here, he lifts the lid on life within that camp and his own history.
