Paul Smith says he still has a world title in his sights after knocking out Daniel Regi in five rounds.

Paul Smith took a short but sharp step towards another world title challenge by putting Daniel Regi down six times in a one-sided fifth-round stoppage.

The former world super-middleweight challenger was in his third fight since coming up short against Andre Ward and losing back-to-back fights with WBO titlist Arthur Abraham.

With brother Callum in The O2 ring later and Liam off to America to take on Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez next weekend, 'The Real Gone Kid' was clearly out to kickstart the historic siblings next seven days.

Regi (28-14-KO15) was experienced at best and after a cautious opening round, Smith's first real left to the body put him down for the first time and soon did the same with a short right hook to the head, suggesting he is back on form.

Smith (38-6-KO22) is the most experienced of the famous boxing brothers but showed his patience and found plenty of gaps to exploit.

After the initial knockdowns, the fourth round saw Regi down twice more, the first another sharp cutting right upstairs and the follow-up a right to the ribs.

Even if the third knockdown was more of a stumble, Smith's next vicious attack saw the referee step in to call TKO in the fifth.

Smith admitted he just wanted rounds but with both body and head shots landing and causing serious damage to the Hungarian, the referee had no other option.

"With my three brothers, I feel if I don't win a world title then I believe I'm the only one who won't and I can't be left behind," he told Sky Sports Box Office.

"I am one of the veterans now but I still feel I've got plenty to offer.

"I'm happy to be fighting. I've got to thank Joe and Eddie for putting me on this bill because these are the type of nights you want to be involved in as a fighter."
