Ohara Davies showed he has the impressive skills to match his trash-talking as he stopped Derry Mathews inside three rounds.

Ohara Davies had the final word in his feud with Derry Mathews after stopping the Merseysider in the third round at The O2.

The Hackney man was far too powerful for Mathews, who was floored twice before the referee stepped in to signal a 15th victory for the unbeaten 25-year-old super-lightweight.

Davies gave a glimpse of his power at the end of a cagey opening round as a right hand drew a little shake in the legs of Mathews.

Into the second round, Davies continued to stalk his opponent, and stuck out a stiff jab from his unorthodox stance.

More aggression from Mathews drew a swift response from Davies, who unloaded a big right hand in the third which sent the Liverpudlian backing unsteadily to the ropes, and he took a knee to avoid further punches.

Sensing the end was near, Davies dumped him back on the canvas with a barrage of hooks, and the wobbling Mathews was rescued by the referee after he rose again and sagged worryingly on the ropes.
