Erdei, Dzinziruk maintain unbeaten records in Dresden

Defending champions Zsolt Erdei and Sergiy Dzinziruk retained their unbeaten records and WBO titles with contrasting points wins in Dresden on Saturday night. Erdei made a successful 10th defence of his light-heavyweight belt against the fourth-ranked DeAndrey Abron, winning all-bar the third round in a one-sided contest barely worthy of its status. It is not the first time Erdei has meandered his way to a points victory, and as he rarely fights beyond Germany or his native Hungary the 33-year-old is unlikely to gain international recognition. Dzinziruk is in a similar position, moving to 35-0 with a hard fought victory over Lukas Konecny to keep hold of his light-middleweight crown. Making his fourth defence, the Hamburg-based Ukrainian made good use of his southpaw stance to keep the advancing Konecny at bay, the judges scoring the fight irratically - 118-110, 115-113 and 114-114 for a majority decision.
