Colombian Prescott looking confident ahead of Saturday night

Amir Khan and Breidis Prescott both weighed in at 9stone 8½lbs ahead of their lightweight showdown on Saturday night, live on Sky Box Office. Bolton's Khan looked in excellent condition as he got on the scales at the Arndale Shopping Centre in Manchester to a rousing reception. The Olympic silver medallist weighed in half-a-pound under the lightweight limit, the same as his opponent Prescott. Looking composed, the Colombian smiled to the sizeable crowd as his weight was read out before the two fighters posed for pictures.

Undefeated

Both men go into the bout with an undefeated professional record. Khan is a perfect 18-0 with 14 of his wins coming by knockout. "There must be 3 or 4,000 people here for the weigh-in - this proves that he (Khan) has captured the imagination," said promoter Frank Warren. "I'm not getting nervous, and neither is Amir, but he (Prescott) is very confident. He fancies the job. "You don't find many Colombians who don't come to fight. He's going to give it 100 percent and I hear his camp have had a bet." He added: "It's a good night's boxing. We've got some of the best young talent in the country on the bill as well."
Undercard
WBO super-featherweight champion Alex Arthur is one of those fighters on the undercard, the Scot going up against Nicky Cook. The Scot, who has had issues making the weight before, was bang on the 130lbs mark for his title defence, while confident challenger Cook was ½lb lighter. Audley Harrison cut a determined figure as he tipped the scales at 17st 2lbs ahead of his fight against Brazilian George Arias. Already with a considerable advantage in terms of reach, the gold medal winner in Sydney back in 2000 was over two stones heavier than his opponent.
