Ricky Hatton could be set for a lucrative agreement with Oscar De La Hoya out of the ring.
New promotional deal being discussed to develop British fighters
Ricky Hatton may have one eye on a mega-money fight with Oscar De La Hoya - however the Hitman could be set for a lucrative agreement with his rival out of the ring.
Hatton is hoping to set up a fight with the Golden Boy in the new year - should both successfully come through their respective fights against Paulie Malignaggi and Manny Pacquiao.
However Hatton is now in talks with De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions about setting up a joint venture to develop British fighters.
Hatton's Punch Promotions is seen as the perfect platform for Golden Boy Promotions to establish links in Europe.
Gareth Williams, Hatton's lawyer, told
The Daily Telegraph: "These are exciting times. We're setting up a stand-alone company which will be a joint enterprise, and we'll look to sign the best of British talent.
"We've already spoken to several of the British fighters who went to the Olympic Games, and we'll reveal names once we've sat down and signed things properly.
"Some of the biggest fights in the world are being brokered by Golden Boy at the moment, and with their company wishing to have a European branch, we see ourselves as a 'good fit' with them. We're looking at the highest level of boxing promotion possible."
