Hillyard's blunder gives Scot an unexpected chance

Favourite Ted Bami will be first Andrew Ferrans will be fighting in Friday's Prizefighter Welterweight event at the York Hall in London after George Hillyard failed to make the weight. Ferrans, 27, who hails from New Cumnock, Scotland, had been one of the reserves but will now be involved in the first fight of the night against former European light-welterweight champion and favourite Ted Bami. "It's good to be involved with something like this," said Ferrans. "My fitness is ideal, as good as it could be so I will have no problems and you would rather do it the hard way and fight all the way through. At a final check-weight session ahead of the weigh-in, Hillyard was found to be four pounds over the 10st 9lbs limit for the tournament. Ferrand and Bami will kick off another breath-taking evening of action at the York Hall - and live on Sky Sports - with Barry Hearn assembling arguably the most talented field yet for the £25,000 winner-takes-all format. The pick of the other quarter-finals sees former British light-welterweight champion Nigel Wright take on former welterweight boss Ross Minter, son of former world middleweight king Alan Minter. The other two bouts pit London's Michael Lomaz against Scotsman Craig Dickson, while the experienced Steve Conway will take on Midlander Mark Lloyd. Should Bami, 15/8 favourite with Sky Bet, beat Ferrans he will meet the winner of Conway and Lloyd in the semis and if Prizefighter goes to the bookmakers' form, could take on second favourite Wright in the final. This will be the third time the event has been staged, and the first time it has feature non-heavyweight. QUARTER-FINAL DRAW
