'Vicious' Victor Ortiz added to his lofty reputation by blasting his way to a second-round knockout of Jeffrey Resto in Las Vegas on Saturday night.
The 21-year-old from Oxnard in California had already made some headlines this week for being the man who gave Oscar De La Hoya the shiner recently sported by the 'Golden Boy' on HBO's 24/7.
And he showed just how he did it by making short work of defending his NABO light-welterweight title against Resto.
Ortiz (now 23-1) was at a disadvantage in terms of height and reach, but that didn't matter as his speed and power overwhelmed Resto (now 22-3).
The first sign of an early conclusion came just 75 seconds in when Ortiz dropped his opponent with a peach of a straight left.
Resto was up early but 25 seconds later he was back on the deck, with the straight left from Ortiz again doing the damage.
The second round was again one-way traffic and eventually Resto was blasted to the floor by a sustained flurry from Ortiz, and he failed to beat the count.
