Exciting super-middleweight prospect Daniel Jacobs stopped Victor Lares inside two rounds in Las Vegas on Saturday night. One of the brightest young things in the sport, Jacobs padded his pro record to 13-0 by blasting out Lares on the big De La Hoya/Pacquiao undercard in the MGM Grand. Jacobs was expected to have little trouble in seeing off the 31-year-old Texan. And so it proved as he hurt his opponent repeatedly in a one-sided opening round. Jacobs, 21, scored freely to both body and head as he took control of the fight from the off. The second session brought more of the same until a sustained attack with several punches to the head landing put Lares down, and the bout was stopped soon after. It was the 12th bout of a busy year for Jacobs, known as 'The Golden Child'.
