Haymaker claims deal is done to take on Klitschko brother in London
David Haye claims that he has agreed a deal to fight WBC world heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko in London next June.
The 28-year-old was in Germany to see Vitali's brother Wladimir regain his world titles by beating Hasim Rahman on Saturday, and he took over the post-fight press conference as he pressed for a meeting with one of the brothers.
Haye has said he wants to unify the heavyweight titles and will happily take on both fighters, and it is 37-year-old Vitali that has emerged as the first in line.
The WBC champion has 35 wins from 37 fights, and regained the world title he vacated by retiring in 2005 when he beat Samuel Peter in October.
Haye confirmed his position as the top cruiserweight around by knocking out Enzo Maccarinelli in March before moving up to the heavyweight division.
Barrett battered
After battering former world title contender Monte Barrett last month, Haye will now jump right up to take on Klitschko for the WBC title.
"We sat down with K2 Promotions and thrashed out a deal in the early hours of this morning," said Haye.
"We agreed terms for myself and Vitali at a London venue to be decided. The fight is going to happen in June. It's all done and dusted, just need to dot the i's and cross the t's.
"We sat down and talked numbers and that made sense for both sides and it's done. There is no boxing politics involved. Plain and simple, this is how boxing should be."
The second of Klitschko's defeats was in the last fight of Lennox Lewis' career in Los Angeles in 2005, when the Ukrainian had to be stopped due to cuts.
