Home comforts make preparations for tough test easier

Middlesbrough featherweight Paul Truscott is hoping that home town advantage will help him pass his Commonwealth title test against John Simpson. The 22-year-old lives just yards away from the Eston Sports Acadamy and is counting on being supported by familiar faces in the crowd. "It makes it easier for everyone to come and not have to pay for taxis," he told Sky Sports News. "I only have to come five minutes, I can stay in the house until two minutes before it's time to come here."

Inspiration

Local favourite Truscott revealed the reasons behind defending his unbeaten record against the biggest threat he has faced so far. He added: "If I can inspire someone to get off the settee and go down the gym and pick up boxing or ex-boxers to go back to the gym and realise that they had potential - that's what I want." Scot John Simpson is looking to spoil the party and get his own career back on track after losing the British title to Paul Appleby. He admits that he paid the price for underestimating the Boxing Witers' Young Fighter of the Year. "I've just been back to the gym and been training harder," Simpson said. "I defended the title twice and got a wee bit complacent in the gym and obviously I got the title taken off me and I've come back and I've been training even harder."
