Hatton relishing working with veteran trainer

Floyd Mayweather senior insists Ricky Hatton has all the tools necessary to stop Manny Pacquiao. The pair will clash in Las Vegas on May 2 in the most eagerly-awaited fight of the year, live on Sky Box Office. The Filipino superstar is rated the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world, but Hatton's trainer insists the 'Hitman' will stop Pacquiao. Before he teamed up with Hatton, Mayweather described the Manchester fighter as a 'slugger'. Now he calls him a 'smart slugger' - the perfect combination. Mayweather told Sky Sports News: "You're going to see Pacquiao backed up to the ropes, right here. Mark my words Ricky is going to stop him either to the body or to the head. But more than likely he is going to stop him to the body. Trust me." Hatton added: "He is a southpaw, he tries to walk you on to that left cross. He likes to shuffle in and out with his footwork so I have to get the timing right.

Speed

"Speed is timing. You can be the fastest puncher in the world but if you don't throw the punches at the right time it is not going to make much of a difference." Hatton is also relishing working with Mayweather - the father of the only man to have beaten him, Floyd junior. "We get on very well togther now. We have a laugh. He's got used to my sense of humour, I've got used to his sense of humour and training is fun now. "Training is fun because I have got my form back, we are working on new things and we are both quietly confident and very excited about the performance we believe we both can produce on the night." Hatton will fly out to Las Vegas on Sunday to continue his preparations for May's 'superfight'.
