Unbeaten Mayweather's comeback fight postponed due to rib injury

Floyd Mayweather Jr's comeback fight against Juan Manuel Marquez has been postponed after the unbeaten American picked up a rib injury in training. Former welterweight champion Mayweather has not fought since stopping Ricky Hatton in December 2007, but was set to get back into the ring against the highly-regarded Marquez. The fight was scheduled for July 18 with the Pretty Boy meeting Mexico's world lightweight kingpin Marquez at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in his hometown of Las Vegas. However, the contest is now off after Mayweather Jr suffered an injury during a training session, fight co-promoters Golden Boy announced on Sunday. "I am extremely disappointed that this fight has to be postponed," Mayweather said in a statement. "I was training very hard and looking forward to getting back in the ring on July 18." Marquez, from his training camp in Mexico, added: "I was very disappointed to hear the news about the fight being postponed. "I will remain focused, in shape and ready to fight whenever the fight is rescheduled for."
