Commonwealth champion stop Glover in the sixth

Commonwealth welterweight champion John O'Donnell retained his title at the Watford Colosseum on Saturday night with a sixth-round stoppage of Tom Glover. The 23-year-old dominated the bout throughout, with a powerful left uppercut in the third round breaking Glover's nose. O'Donnell kept up the pressure before referee Richie Davies was forced to step in at the end of the sixth round to spare the outclassed Glover further punishment. "It feels good. I hit him with everything I had and eventually the referee made the right decision," O'Donnell said after he secured the 22nd win of his professional career. Glover had no arguments about the stoppage, claiming that O'Donnell was the better fighter. "It didn't go to plan," he said. "Full credit to John, he's different class. I thought I could carry on but I couldn't argue with the decision to stop it."
