German crushes Minto to retain WBO strap

Germany's Marco Huck retained his WBO cruiserweight title when opponent Brian Minto was pulled out by his corner before the 10th round. Huck, whose record now stands at 29-1 with 22 stoppages, was dominant throughout and dropped the former heavyweight - making his first outing at the 200lb limit - in the third round. The 25-year-old, who was successfully defending his title for the third time in six months, dropped the American again in the fifth and although Minto made it to the bell, he appeared dazed as he wandered to the wrong corner. Huck probably could have earned the stoppage before he did, but another big round in the ninth that saw Minto on the canvas for a third time was enough for his corner to withdraw their man, who was way behind on the cards. The impressive Huck now deserves a shot at some of the bigger names in the division, while Welsh former champion Enzo Maccarinelli is back in the frame after capturing the European title.
