Big fight will go ahead despite poor weather
David Haye's huge heavyweight showdown fight with Wladimir Klitschko will go ahead despite heavy rain in Hamburg.
The WBA, IBF and WBO unification battle, live on
Sky Sports Box Office HD, takes place on the pitch at the Imtech Arena.
The ring is fully covered and although the VIP guests on the pitch face a soaking, the ring is well protected. The fight is expected to go ahead on schedule.
Rain has been falling since the afternoon and although it is expected to clear up local forecasts suggest it will be after the 11.00pm fight time - 10.00pm in the United Kingdom.
Haye's trainer Adam Booth has already been out to check the ring and looked happy.
The canopy above the ring stretches a good 20ft either side and with no wind, there is little chance of rain slanting in underneath.
Sky Sports' Jim Watt has been out to the ring and says it will not cause Haye, or Klitschko, any problems whatsoever.
"The weather won't be a problem at all," he told
Sky Sports News HD.
"It's unfortunate for the people who have paid for the expensive seats because they might get a bit wet, but I would have thought they could afford waterproof golf suits anyway!
"The fight's going ahead, it won't be put off until tomorrow, or next month. You can forget that. It won't be a problem for either fighter."
