George Groves says James DeGale has 'no value' and needs to fight him for a second time

George Groves says a fight with his fellow British super-middleweight James DeGale is possible – but that DeGale needs the fight more than he does.
Groves bounced back from a pair of dramatic losses to Carl Froch with a points victory over Christopher Rebrasse at Wembley Arena in September and will next fight Denis Douglin of America in Liverpool on November 22.
DeGale will also be on that bill – he is scheduled to face Marco Antonio Periban of Mexico – and victories for the British duo could lead to calls for them to fight again.
Groves narrowly won their exciting first bout on points at the O2 Arena in May 2011, a verdict DeGale disputed, and the beaten man has subsequently gone on to win nine bouts in a row since suffering that first defeat as a pro.
However, Groves says a third fight against Froch would be his ideal scenario.
Sell Out
“A third fight with Froch would sell out instantly,” said the 26-year-old.
“That’s what everyone is still talking about, that is what everyone is interested in. Carl Froch, at the moment, is being very indecisive.
“He has a mandatory obligation against James DeGale. James DeGale, unfortunately for him, has no value. So, to Froch, he is just worthless.
“Froch himself is probably looking for an easy fight. The only American he mentions, although there are some good Americans out there, is (Julio) Chavez (Jr), which is quite strange, because he is a middleweight with no titles.”
Regarding a possible clash with DeGale, Groves added: “He boxes in leisure centres in Bristol and places like that, when he headlines.
“His last fight, of course, there were a few people there, but that was because it was on my undercard (at Wembley in May).
“The only time he has headlined and there has been a few people in the place, was because it was against me.
“He knows, for him to make any money, he has got to fight me.”
