Slazenger have a reputation for manufacturing bats of the highest calibre and the V200 continues that tradition.
Slazenger have long held a reputation for manufacturing bats of the highest calibre and the V200 series continues that proud tradition. In my formative years I cherished my V12, loving the revolutionary design with its chunky sweet spot. The only downside of Allan Lamb's then weapon of choice was its heavy pick up. There are no such issues for the V200. The model I tried - the mid-priced County - has a lowered middle which gives a well-balanced pick up. Made from hand-crafted English willow, it also offers an optimum balance of power and control ideal for playing shots all round the wicket. I chose a 2lb 8oz model and expected the lack of beef in the blade would limit the V200's driving power. Not a bit of it; the ball flew off the middle with the gentlest of pushes thanks in part to its subtle bow. The V200 comes complete with a premium cane oval handle which delivers improved power, feel, grip and performance plus a contoured toe crafted to deliver that trademark light pick up. The wood is crafted towards the middle and edges of the blade, delivering an extended sweet spot. The model I tested was pressed to deliver optimum performance but will still need additional knocking in before its ready for the new season. Add to it the modern design and I can't wait to wield this particular piece of willow in anger come April.
