India captain Mithali Raj became the most prolific run-scorer in Women's one-day international cricket when she overtook former England skipper Charlotte Edwards.

Raj scored 69 in her side's ICC World Cup group game against Australia to take her career tally to 6,028, eclipsing the 5,992 runs totted up by Edwards.

The 34-year-old improved her average to 51.5 in her 183rd ODI as she shared a second-wicket stand of 157 with opener Punam Raut (106) - India posting a score of 226-7 at Bristol.

That tally proved nowhere large enough, though, as Australia chased down their target for the loss of just two wickets - skipper Meg Lanning (76no) and Ellyse Perry (60no) sharing an unbroken third-wicket stand of 124 after solid opening contributions from Nicole Bolton (36) and Beth Mooney (45).
