Babar Azam, the world's top-rated Twenty20 batsman, will return for a second stint with Somerset this summer.
The 25-year-old, who assumed the captaincy of Pakistan's T20 side last summer, will link back up with the club for the Vitality Blast, and also be eligible for County Championship matches between May 28 and July 3.
Somerset director of cricket Andy Hurry said: "Babar Azam is the best T20 batsman in the world and his return will be a major boost for us.
"He played a significant role for us in the Vitality Blast last year and his stats speak for themselves.
"He is a truly world-class talent and we look forward to working with him again in 2020."
Babar did not have to think too long and hard before agreeing to a second spell in England.
"I really enjoyed my time at Somerset," he said.
"And I look forward to coming back. Somerset has a very good squad and the supporters made me feel very welcome.
"Hopefully I can help the club reach the knockout stages of the Vitality Blast and contribute to winning matches in the County Championship."
