Misbah-ul-Haq equalled the record for the fastest Test hundred on day four of the second Test as Pakistan turned the screw on Australia.

The Pakistan captain reached three figures from 56 balls in Abu Dhabi, matching the mark set by West Indies great Viv Richards against England in 1986.

The record for fastest fifty is now Misbah's outright - his 21-ball half-century was scored off three fewer deliveries than Jacques Kallis took against Zimbabwe in 2005.

Misbah hit five sixes and 11 fours on the way to his century, his second of a match Pakistan continue to dominate.

The 'home' side declared their second innings on 293-3, setting Australia a notional 603 to win and level the two-match series following Pakistan's victory in Dubai.

Azhar Ali matched Misbah's achievement of scoring two tons in the match, finishing 100 not out.

Aussie reply

Australia, in reply, closed 459 runs behind on 143-4 after three early wickets from Zulfiqar Babar.
